Dr Holly Thompson - Clinical Psychologist

I am a sensitive clinical psychologist, qualified for over 10 years who combines an aptitude for multidisciplinary team work and client engagement, with strengths in assessment and evidence-based treatment.  My professional time has been spent in the Australian and British NHS as well as the private and charitable sector.  I work exclusively in my own private practice, and I founded Flourish Clinical Psychology back in Melbourne, Australia in 2010.  Flourish has now been operating in Buckinghamshire for 8 years.  I view myself as hardworking and enthusiastic, with strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research. I provide a combination of evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy, premised around a client- centred view that a solution tailored to each individual or family is essential for lasting improvement. All treatment is offered and agreed following a thorough assessment of the presenting difficulties, guided by clients' goals and informed by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). I am experienced in working with brief and longer-term therapy needs.

I particularly enjoy working with adults and families with a range of presenting difficulties.  I have a special interest in working with PTSD (in both adults and children), and I have undertaken advanced training in Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  In my day to day practice I treat depression, anxiety, self-harm and OCD, as well as broader difficulties relating to eating, sleep, grief and loss. I am also experienced in working with autism spectrum difficulties and behavioural concerns in children and adolescents. I aspire to provide the highest standards of psychological therapy, and my work and continuing professional development is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  At the foundation of every professional interaction is my hope you will feel safe, cared for, listened to and helped.  I deeply value being able to work to improve mental health in everyone I meet, and the trust I earn from clients remains the most special part of the work I do.

Dr Zoé Dixon-Havers - Counselling Psychologist

I am a counselling psychologist with 9 years’ experience in NHS mental health. I have worked in complex adult mental health, adult learning disability and autism within the private sector and NHS and currently specialise in perinatal mental health within the NHS.

I am passionate about helping people to find answers to their problems. I believe that we all have the answers within us and sometimes need some help to find them. I believe in working alongside people, being with them through their difficulties and helping them believe in themselves.

I work in an individual and integrative way; understanding someone’s problems, and aims for treatment, and working with them to develop a plan that fits. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person Centred and Compassion Focused Therapy – my experience shows me that there a lot of people who struggle to show themselves compassion, and that developing this can reduce the distress felt in problematic times. To me one of the most important parts of my work is really listening to each individual with compassion, understanding their experience and needs and working together with them to create solutions and improvements and I aim to provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space for this.

I have worked with people struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, bereavement, life transition difficulties, low confidence, interpersonal difficulties and family difficulties, pre- and post-natal difficulties. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a specialist therapy for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

My work is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Nicola Gorringe - Clinical Psychologist

I am a BPS Chartered and HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with additional training and experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I have over 15 years experience working with children and families in the NHS and private sector. My NHS experience has been in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, working with children suffering from anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and anger problems. I also have a number of years' experience working in the field of chronic pain and chronic fatigue with adults and children, as well as having the role of lead clinician in a service for children with learning disabilities and challenging behavior.
I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Course and have regularly supervised and taught other psychologists and mental health workers as part of my work.

My practice is very much influenced by attachment and social learning models of child development as well as using cognitive behaviour therapy and mindfulness approaches to help children cope with the struggles of modern life. I focus on helping families understand the emotional reasons underlying their children’s difficulties rather than just changing behaviour, and my priority is always to help children and parents develop the warm, responsive and positive relationships that provide the foundations for self-esteem and emotional wellbeing from infancy to adolescence.

Olivia Grant - Counsellor

Hi, I'm Olivia, and I'm an experienced integrative counsellor, who specialises in working with children and young people. I work in a client centred approach, meaning I draw on a range of models to help clients to develop their self-awareness and grow from their experiences. In my therapeutic work, I primarily use Person-centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy skills.

Taking the first step to start counselling can feel exciting, but the process can feel intimidating and full of unknowns. The good news is, there is nothing that you can’t talk about in counselling. You might benefit from counselling if you feel that you are at a crossroads in your life or overwhelmed. You might also feel that your life is going well… you’re managing, and you’d just like to maintain that and invest in yourself. With counselling support, we are able to learn new insights and discover positive ways to move forward.

I work hard to create a safe and trusting space that gives people the opportunity to talk about how they feel without the fear of judgement. My aim is to help my clients to find ways to cope better with their feelings through talking therapy whilst drawing on a variety of tools, depending on what works best for them. During our sessions, we will be able to regularly explore and review your needs and expectations of therapy.

Jenny Edwards - Counsellor

Hi, I’m Jenny. I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor with a special interest in helping people suffering with trauma and abuse. I work with young people and adults and offer a warm, empathic, gentle approach. I regularly work with the different parts within ourselves, we can often say“part of me wants to do this but another part is saying different” and I believe it is important to recognise these parts and explore them and their needs. I believe that it is helpful and therapeutic to understand your body and mind and I use psychoeducation to bring awareness and understanding of your body and mind to aid healing.

I am trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) TA (Transactional Analysis) and Person-Centred Therapy. I also have skills in somatisation and mindfulness.

My background has been working with the NHS for 13 years. I started out in nursing and worked in clinical settings with Multi-disciplinary teams to ensure people are getting the best care possible and to enable them to feel safe and treated appropriately. I then moved on to working with staff within the NHS to ensure they felt safe, supported and listened to, this is a movement within the NHS called Freedom to Speak Up. After this I went on to work with a charity called Living your life that offers pre-trial therapy for survivors of trauma and abuse.

I believe and feel passionate that everyone of us deserves to be heard, acknowledged and feel safe.
